Watching: Castlevania season 4 (with monster screencaps)

     Wow! Honestly I love the way Castlevania wrapped up. For all its grimness and violence and tragedy, the series is ultimately quite hopeful- its characters have chances to grow and change, to think of themselves as their own people and not beholden to someone else's grand plan, instead moving towards ideas of building a kinder future for everyone. Isaac especially has a neat story arc and I love how it resolved.

Alucard also gets a girlfriend who is bisexual and poly, good for him. All-in-all a fun watch, would recommend if you like horror, fantasy, and dynamic battle scenes. Playing the games is not necessary for you to enjoy or understand the series.

 

Moral of the story- just don't fucking kill Dracula's wife.

  From the late 90s on, werewolf movies have definitely gone down in quality with regards to practical effects, with CGI taking a center stage- some of it decent, some of it very bad. The Werewolf Movie Image Repository 2010s

From the late 90s on, werewolf movies have definitely gone down in quality with regards to practical effects, with CGI taking a center stage- some of it decent, some of it very bad (blame the fact that vfx studios are generally non-union, overworked, underpaid, and made to make a lot of last minute changes). There's also a higher volume of movies, due to digital film-making lowering the barrier to access, which has led to some really interesting indie films and a lot of extraordinarily cheap and bad ones. Here I'll be attempting to catalogue what I can, as long as there's a werewolf on screen in the film and the design isn't just a pre-fab Halloween mask, a pre-fabricated costume, or just a guy with minimal make-up. Singing, Dancing, Talking Animals: A Music Video Masterlist

 This is something a little different that I wanted to do with my blog. Instead of a one-and-done post, I will treat this entry the way that people construct themed lists on letterboxd which they continue to add to and improve. I love projects like this to chip away at on a rainy day. My aim here is to create an index (with links) to music videos that contain anthropomorphic animals of some kind- through costumes, animation, puppetry, etc. I'm also including animal-like monsters and mythological creatures such as dragons, werewolves, satyrs, minotaurs and centaurs. I'll be including links and trying to keep the list updated both with new entries and working links if anything gets deleted from youtube.
