Watching: Castlevania Season 1, Screencaps (Monsters, Alucard)

 I started watching the Netflix Castlevania adaptation, despite never having played the games (I'm not a huge video game person and it's really time consuming when I do play them). Pretty fun, bloody, grim and has some decent crass humor. I like the animation style too. There's a lot of exposition in season 1 but enough action to make up for it. 

I should probably note that I haven't been blogging or capping everything I'm watching, which would be exhausting given that I'm on a movie-per-night habit now, more or less. A better log of what I'm watching + reviews is on my letterboxd.

 It's no secret that I love werewolves and horror movies, so it feels natural to start a project where I catalogue all the werewolf films I've seen with high quality* screencaps of all the werewolves themselves. The Werewolf TV Series Image Repository

 Separate from the movie posts by decade, this is a space I will be using to archive and showcase images of practical effects werewolves in tv shows- either in series overall or in individual episodes. Not including: anything where the werewolves are just normal wolves or dogs (unless there's some transformation effects shown) or anything so lazy that the werewolves are just a guy with fangs and creature contact lenses. There has to be some kind of make-up and animalistic qualities. Werewolf Movie Image Repository 2000s

  From the late 90s on, werewolf movies have definitely gone down in quality with regards to practical effects, with CGI taking a center stage- some of it decent, some of it very bad. There's also a higher volume of movies, due to digital film-making lowering the barrier to access, which has led to some really interesting indie films and a lot of extraordinarily cheap and boring ones. Here I'll be attempting to catalogue what I can, as long as there's a werewolf on screen in the film and the design isn't just a pre-fab Halloween mask or just a guy with minimal make-up. I'm also skipping over a lot of CGI-only efforts, though exceptions will be made for CGI that had maquettes/models to start the process (such as Van Helsing).
